September Update

Work on the new high school continues on schedule. While the building has been unoccupied, our contractor, Jones & Roberts, has been able to work quickly and overcome the supply chain delays that came with the pandemic. Thanks to a favorable bid, we've been able to restore some of the features that were removed prior to bidding. Some of these are:

  • Theater seating in the Commons
  • Complete refinish of the gym floor
  • New bleachers in the gym mezzanine
  • Aisles and handrails on all gym bleachers
  • New equipment for the wood shop
  • Engineered stairs for the shop mezzanines
  • Full landscaping including the outdoor classroom
  • Additional classroom
  • Increased square footage for the LifeSkills  classroom
Currently, Jones & Roberts is pouring the slab for the new Kitchen and Commons, sheeting the new roof, framing in the dormers on the new roof. In the locker rooms, they are finishing the taping and preparing to paint. New locker room flooring and finish trim will come by the end of the month. In the gym, acoustic treatments are being installed. Walls have been repaired and are ready for paint. New lighting fixtures are being installed. In the CTE (shop) wing, walls are framed and sheetrocked. Taping will begin this week. Construction of the new canopy structure outside near the dust collector will begin this week.

We anticipate moving into the new constructed spaces in December during Winter break.  Shops will be available for student use (pandemic permitting) in late October.
